Jerrick D. Murrell, originally from Oakland, Tennessee, was the Valedictorian of Fayette Ware Comprehensive High School’s Class of 2005. Subsequently, he attended the University of Memphis on a full academic scholarship. 

 

In 2009, he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. In 2011, Mr. Murrell obtained his Master of Arts degree from the University of Memphis. He graduated from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis in 2015, and he was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 2015. 

 

Following law school, Mr. Murrell served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable John T. Fowlkes, Jr. in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee.

 

Mr. Murrell is currently an attorney with Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC.  Baker Donelson is a national law firm with more than 650 attorneys and public policy advisors. 

 

Mr. Murrell assists his clients in a variety of litigation matters including health care, personal injury, torts, product liability, employment law, and commercial litigation. He has extensive experience representing hospitals and health care facilities in health care liability actions, as well as experience representing national insurance carriers in bad faith denial disputes.

 

Mr. Murrell’s personal injury experience includes defending motor carriers and ridesharing companies in legal actions alleging negligence; negligent hiring, retention and supervision; and negligent entrustment. Mr. Murrell’s product liability experience includes defending manufacturers against claims alleging defective and unreasonably dangerous products, as well as failure to warn cases.

 

Mr. Murrell regularly represents employers before administrative agencies and courts in matters involving claims of wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. His practice also includes helping clients avoid lawsuits through proactive training.

 

Mr. Murrell’s experience also includes defending business litigation claims alleging breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, misrepresentation, fraud, and violations of state consumer protection statutes.

 

Mr. Murrell’s professional memberships include the American Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, Memphis Bar Association, National Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association, and the American Inns of Court (Leo Bearman, Sr. Chapter). He is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
