FAYETTE COUNTY SCHOOLS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

Fayette County Schools’ Alumni Association, Inc, is made up of former graduates of Fayette County Public High Schools who pay membership dues, raise funds, and accept donations from individuals, organizations, churches and businesses for use in awarding financial scholarships annually to college bound graduates of FWCHS.

The organization founded in 1983, is operated by volunteers. We are a TN corporation and an approved 501 c (3) entity with IRS of the US Treasure Department. Therefore, all donations are tax deductible on federal income tax returns.

We have awarded one million thirteen thousand eight hundred ($1,013,800.00) dollars in financial assistance to six hundred thirty-nine (639) students over the last few years.

Funds are raised through membership fees, donations, contributions from United Way of the Mid-South and other fundraising activities. Our primary fundraising event is the Annual Spring Banquet.  Although the 2020 banquet was virtual, thanks to our supporters, fundraising continued.

OUR HISTORY

In 1983, the Fayette County Training School's Alumni Association (FCTSAA) was organized.  A small group, led by the late Mr. Robert "Bob" Reed, wanted to "give back" to the community that inspired students of FCTS to achieve their dreams. Along with Bob, attendees at that meeting included Christine Lewis, Margaret Thurman Pruitt, Elroy Jones, the late Rosie Coleman Jones and Floyd Bonner.  The name of the organization was later changed to Fayette County Schools Alumni Association, Inc. to include all public high schools in Fayette County.

The Fayette County Schools Alumni Association, Inc., (FCSAA) was formed to provide financial assistance to college bound graduating seniors of our public high schools in Somerville, Tennessee.  In 2002, the Association was incorporated as a nonprofit corporation in the state of Tennessee and in 2003 we received our 501 c (3) ruling from the IRS.  Therefore, all contributions are tax deductible.
